Kirsten Storms, who stars on General Hospital, was arrested for driving under the influence, the California Highway Patrol confirms to PEOPLE.

Shortly after 3 a.m. Friday, authorities stopped Storms, 23, along the 101 Freeway in Studio City after they say they saw her toss a lit cigarette (a littering infraction) out the window of her Mercedes.

Officers then issued sobriety tests, which she failed, says the CHP, which declined to state her blood-alcohol level. Her arrest was first reported by TMZ.com.

Storms, who also plays Bonnie Rockwaller on Disney’s Kim Possible, was booked at the Los Angeles jail in Van Nuys at 4:26 that morning.

She was released eight hours later on $5,000 bail, pending an Oct. 2 court appearance in Van Nuys, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department.
