Marcia Clark Goes Legally Blonde

As O.J. Simpson stood before a judge Wednesday morning, there was a buzz that former prosecutor Marcia Clark, who tried Simpson in 1994 on double-murder charges, was in the courtroom.

The problem was, no one could find her.

"Nobody recognized me because they weren't used to looking for a blonde," says Clark, who in fact was sitting in the second row, a few feet away from Simpson at his arraignment on felony charges.

Clark, covering the hearing as a legal correspondent for Entertainment Tonight, tells PEOPLE she changed her brunette look at the advice of her hairdresser.

"I just want to say, the only time I didn't listen to my hairdresser is when I had a perm," she says of her '90s look.

So, counselor, tell us the whole truth and nothing but: do blondes have more fun?

"Oh they do," she says. "There's no question they do. Why didn't someone tell me this sooner. I thought it was cheating, like you had to be naturally blond or something when you were a kid. No, you don't have to be. I love it."
