Dangerous Man
REVIEWED BY RALPH NOVAK
COUNTRY

Adkins is still basically Toby Keith manqué, another swaggering good ol' boy who occasionally comes up with a ditty that has a little wit to go along with the machismo. On his latest, tunes such as "Ladies Love Country Boys" and "Words Get in the Way" give the singer a chance to flex his sense of humor and display a touch for subtlety. But, with his rugged baritone, Adkins resorts to playing the bar-room bully on "Fightin' Words" ("I'm gonna exercise my right to give somebody a good old country ass-whuppin'") and even recycles the egregious "Honky Tonk Badonkadonk" (originally on last year's Songs About Me).
