From the moment High School Musical hit the airwaves in January 2006, the Disney TV movie became nothing short of a phenomenon. The soundtrack was the top-selling CD of 2006. The DVD has sold more than 7 million copies. A concert tour sold out arenas across the U.S., Canada and Latin America. And more than 100 million people worldwide are reported to have seen the film. Now with the Aug. 17 premiere of High School Musical 2 just weeks away, the editors at PEOPLE decided to create a magazine about the film and its stars, which parents and kids can read together. As Troy and Gabriella would say, this could be the start of something new.
