SCREEN GEM: Auditioning actors for a film is one thing, but auditioning jewelry? That's what director Tony Scott and costumer Ellen Mirojnick did to find the Karen Karch ruby studs that figure prominently in the plot for Denzel Washington's Déjà Vu. "We brought the earrings in as one of the choices, and it was perfect," says Mirojnick. "It's an everyday earring that had a bit of personality and panache."
