West, who split with model Brooke Crittenden earlier this year, and Alexis have dated off and on for years. "They are perfect for each other and really happy together," says West's stylist Charlene Roxborough.

Film and television actor Lou Diamond Phillips was arrested Aug. 11 in Northridge, Calif., in a case of alleged domestic violence against his girlfriend. Phillips was later released on his own recognizance. His rep tells PEOPLE that no charges are being pursued, and the L.A. city attorney plans to schedule a mediation hearing.

and Ellen, talk show pioneer Mike Douglas dominated daytime TV with his good-natured repartee. The Emmy-winning host died Aug. 11—his 81st birthday—at a Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., hospital. Through the '60s and '70s, the former big-band singer juggled interviews, skits and music acts with guests the likes of John Lennon and Yoko Ono, President Nixon, Muhammad Ali and a 2-year-old golfer named Tiger Woods. "I want to make as many persons happy as I can," Douglas said of his appeal. "I don't smoke, I don't drink, I get home every night. I'm a square."
