Penélope Cruz and sister Mónica's clothing line for cheap-chic chain Mango hits stores Sept. 15
Have you always been interested in designing clothes?
Penélope: When we were little girls, we used to lock ourselves in the bathroom with fashion magazines and pretend to be designers. We were both dancers, and we'd buy basic pieces that you needed for ballet lessons, cut them, transform them and make them our own.
What was your inspiration for the line?
Mónica: We spent a lot of time looking at old magazines. Penélope: One dress was inspired by the dress Audrey Hepburn wore in Breakfast at Tiffany's. These are all things that we would want to wear ourselves. There's nothing that felt like, 'We don't really like it, but we have to include it.'
You're both the same size. Do you share clothes?
Penélope: Yes, and shoes too! We borrow everything. Pajamas, underwear, everything! No need to buy two.
