In X-Men: The Last Stand they fly, throw flames and walk through walls, but Cannes left the movie's junior superheros a little flummoxed. "You have to keep reminding yourself this is real," said Foster, as the costars struck a pose for PEOPLE. "The amount of glamour is staggering." Not that this gang seemed to have any problems fitting right in (though Paquin, dressed in Prada, did admit, "Normally I'm a sneakers kind of girl"). Hopping from yacht party to yacht party, "it's been a bit of a whirlwind," said Stanford. Added Ramirez: "But who needs sleep when you're in Cannes? I'm like, 'Isn't that why I have a makeup artist?'"

Filming the musical Dreamgirls this spring took a lot out of Beyoncé Knowles: 20 lbs. to be exact. At a Cannes preview of the film, due out in December, Knowles said she shed the weight to chronicle the journey of her character Deena Jones, lead singer of a Supremes-like girl group. "I wanted it to be something more than just makeup and hair. I wanted to see the change." Knowles (in a dress designed by mom Tina) said she was inspired by Tom Hanks's drastic weight loss in 2000's Cast Away: "He did it all the way, so I said, I can do it all the way!"
