A family affair: Owen Wilson catches up with Kate Hudson—and plays catch with her son
What started as a spark between costars now seems to be burning brighter as Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson dine publicly—and he spends time with her son Ryder, 2. On Oct. 6 Hudson, 27, and the actor, 37, grabbed a cozy breakfast of egg-and-tofu scramble and blue-corn banana pancakes at organic A Votre Santé in L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood. Then on Oct. 7 Wilson was spotted playing catch with Ryder on the front lawn of Hudson's Pacific Palisades house. The actress—who split from husband Chris Robinson Aug. 14 but has yet to file for divorce—"is trying to figure out her life," says a source. "She is also trying to have a great time."
TONY & EVA OVERTIME
The Tony Parker-Eva Longoria split seemed to last, well, a split second. "They're trying to work things out," her rep Liza Anderson tells Scoop. "There is a genuine love there." During their recent romp in Paris—where Parker, 24, was playing in exhibition games with the Spurs—the couple took in the sights, partied at the VIP Room and dined at the famed Le Coupe-Chou. "The trip seems to have rekindled everything," says one close source. For now, at least, "everything seems good," adds a Parker teammate. "He's really hooked on her."
DOCTOR DRAMA
Watch the hair! Grey's Anatomy's Patrick Dempsey, 40, and Isaiah Washington, 43, nearly came to blows during an onset Oct. 9 argument over shooting issues. "We were like two baseball players ... nose-to-nose," Washington tells Scoop. But no punches were thrown: "Our faces are too beautiful for that!" Just a few hours later, the two were sitting side by side at a script read-through. "In close families arguments happen," says Dempsey's rep. "They worked it out." Washington even learned a little something about his costar. "I've never been that close to [Patrick] before," he says. "He has really pretty blue eyes."
BAUBLE BOBBLE?
Camilla, the wife of Prince Charles, raised eyebrows with her diamond-and-emerald brooch Oct. 2. Why? It was the same gem the Queen Mother gave Princess Diana when she married in 1981. A Buckingham Palace rep notes that, as is usual with royal heirlooms, the brooch was only lent to Diana. "The Queen is the custodian of these pieces.... [Lending them out] is a private matter."
DRESS UP
Each week on Dancing, Joey Lawrence's 5-month-old daughter Charli supports her dad wearing outfits sewn by his mom, Donna Lawrence, 55. The designer's vision? "The dresses always end up in her mouth, so they have to be edible," Donna tells Scoop. "No sequins!"
BALLROOM BANTER
"I think it's between Mario [Lopez] and Joey," predicted Stars alum Stacy Keibler, though she may be leaning toward one: "Joey's so cute, I just want to squeeze his cheeks!" ... Monique Coleman's High School Musical costar Zac Efron showed up to support his pal—but harbors no delusions of dancing himself. "I don't know how Monique does this every week," he said.... Tia Carrere agreed. "I'm so glad to be here tonight," said the former contestant, "in a seat!"
MEL'S TV MEA CULPA
After his anti-Semitic rant during a July traffic stop, Mel Gibson issued not one but two apologies. After that, though, Gibson—who did a stint in an outpatient alcohol treatment program and pleaded no contest to driving with an elevated blood-alcohol level Aug. 17—clammed up. Now the actor, 50, is speaking out. "It was just the stupid rambling of a drunkard," Gibson told Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America. "The last thing I want to be is that kind of monster." With his new film Apocalypto hitting theaters Dec. 8, it's likely Gibson's most recent round of apologies has only just begun.
Paris's Week: Hugs & Disses
IT'S ON
Girl fight! Paris Hilton and Shanna Moakler traded trash talk—and later police reports—at L.A.'s Hyde Lounge Oct. 3. Hilton, 25 (who has been cozying up to Moakler's estranged husband, Travis Barker), claims that the Dancing with the Stars star walked up and "hit me." (She plans to file a restraining order.) Moakler, 31, who alleges she was assaulted by Hilton's ex Stavros Niarchos, counters, "I did not punch Paris." So what does Barker—who kissed Hilton at Pure in Las Vegas three days later—think? "It'll be dangerous [if Shanna] hits everyone I kiss." Girls, you were warned.
IT'S OVER
Stop the presses! Or ... not. Hilton and Nicole Richie, 25, ended their year-and-a half-long feud with a giggle-filled dinner at West Hollywood's Dan Tana's restaurant Oct. 8. "They looked like best friends," a witness tells Scoop. Why the sudden détente? "They didn't want to throw away 20 years of friendship," says a mutual friend. Possible, but given the public nature of the get-together and its timing—they begin filming the fifth season of The Simple Life soon—less charitable observers could speculate that the two were not entirely unaware of the reconciliation's PR value.

BACKSTAGE WITH BARBRA
A behind-the-scenes peek as Streisand embarks on her first tour in 12 years
No one upstages Barbra Streisand. During her concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City, the third of 20 stops on the singer's first tour in 12 years, a heckler interjected during a sketch poking fun at George W. Bush, which Streisand, 64, performed with a presidential impersonator. "What is this, a fund-raiser?" he yelled. Streisand was not pleased. "Shut the f—up!" she said from the stage. The audience, which included such stars as Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O'Donnell, roared with applause. But Streisand, who later apologized, got her biggest cheers for her renditions of hits like "Somewhere," "People" and "The Way We Were." Backstage after the show, a couple of even bigger fans gave her some love: her proud husband, James Brolin, and her son Jason Gould.
