In the wake of Norah Jones, there has been an increased demand for the kind of soothing, Sunday-morning sounds that Amos Lee supplies. Which is why the singer-songwriter and guitarist—who once opened for Jones on tour—has been busy making the late-night-TV rounds, including a coveted spot on Leno. On this fine follow-up to last year's impressive self-titled debut, Lee continues to color his wistful folk-pop with shades of blues, jazz, soul and country. He even gets in the gospel spirit with the churchy organ of "Skipping Stone." Lee is at his best, though, on the lovelorn ballad "Careless," on which the ache in his reedy, slightly raspy tenor betrays his fragile heart.
