Of her 11 tats, the retro cowgirl on Michelle Branch's forearm "means the most," she says. She got it when she and Wreckers partner Jessica Harp recorded their country debut. "Everyone thought I was crazy, but everyone thought I was crazy for doing this project. Every time I look at my arm, I remember being in the studio with Jess. It'll always be my favorite."

In 2001, while she was waiting for a pal to get inked at a Toronto tattoo parlor, "I started getting all sentimental about how much I love Canada and how proud I am to be Canadian," Clark, who now lives in Nashville, has said. "I decided right then and there that I would brand myself a Canadian for life."

They were still a trio of Texas traditionalists enjoying their first taste of the big time when Dixie Chicks Emily Robison, Natalie Maines and Martie Maguire (from left) decided to get chicken feet tattooed on their own feet to mark every gold and platinum album and No. 1 single. But these days it seems that the stars have gotten a little behind on their ink work. The hits "came faster than we ever imagined," Maguire has admitted. "Emily is the only one with feet big enough to fit all these."
