CRITIC'S CHOICE
COUNTRY
Tillis has never been the warmest singer in Nashville, but she comes off like one of the girls on this sparkling album, which has the kind of free and easy feel people always try for in country music but rarely achieve. The 11 terrific songs have a bluegrassy, down-home vibe with artful touches of mandolin, fiddle, steel guitar and banjo. The credits even list "gurgling" (by Liam Heins), a folksy touch if ever there was one. Tillis shines brightest on "Life Has Sure Changed Us Around," a playfully philosophical duet with John Anderson.
