Garry Shandling

The comedian, 57, played a late-night talk show host in his Emmy-winning 1992-98 HBO series The Larry Sanders Show. In his new Sanders DVD box set, he sits down with famous Sanders guests like Jerry Seinfeld and Sharon Stone.

ON THE SANDERS DVD SET I wondered, how can I make the special features as unique as the show was? In the personal visits with [former guest stars] Alec Baldwin, Jerry Seinfeld and Sharon Stone, I let the cameras run and we spent our time together as normally as we would. It's more real than reality TV.

ON TURNING DOWN OFFERS TO HOST A REAL TALK SHOW I'm not good at doing anything every night, let alone with people watching. I really like hosting a talk show, but doing it every night wouldn't allow me to explore other creative avenues, and I didn't want to limit myself. I also don't know how I would do having to worry about ratings.

ON WHAT HIS ALTER EGO WOULD BE UP TO THESE DAYS Larry now is probably trying to buy Johnny Carson's house, and he's in a bidding war with J.Lo over it. His offer is lower, but he insists that only a talk show host should be able to buy it.
