Right from the start, Joely Fisher's baby daughter True Harlow found out what it's like to perform in front of an audience. Fisher decided to forgo the hospital routine and give birth at home with a dozen friends and family members present. "I didn't feel at all self-conscious," says the Desperate Housewives actress, who also decided against an epidural. "There was a lot of pain," she says, but luckily labor lasted only six hours. "She practically walked out," says Fisher. "I felt like a superhero."

Perhaps even more elated by the new arrival was 4-year-old Skylar, the actress's first daughter with husband Christopher Duddy, a cinematographer. "She's just brimming with excitement," says Fisher, 38. "I've got a 4-year-old who wants to change diapers all the time. She's going to be a tremendous help."

Now, after six weeks of settling into her aquatic-themed nursery, True is also getting used to her mother's dressing room on the set of 'Til Death, a pilot about couples conflicts for FOX. "Whenever I get a break, I run up to the dressing room to nurse," says Fisher. "I love work, but no job could ever compare with the job of being a mother."
