At Niki Taylor's Dec. 27 wedding to race car driver Burney Lamar, the only dry eyes in the house belonged to the bride and groom. "Everybody cried because we were all just so happy," says Taylor's rep and friend Lou Taylor (no relation). "They were really just elated, and we were all emotional."
The nuptials capped a whirlwind romance that began in April, when Lamar, 26—who first met Taylor, 31, at a Nashville charity event last January—invited her to watch his team race. On Sept. 15 Lamar proposed to Taylor in front of her parents. For the ceremony at the Grande Colonial Hotel in La Jolla, Calif., the couple had just a few more witnesses: 60 friends and relatives, including Taylor's twin 12-year-old boys, Jake and Hunter, from her first marriage. At the reception afterwards, Lamar and Taylor, who wore Vera Wang, shared their first dance to Jack Johnson's "Better Together." And their friends agree with that sentiment. Says Lou Taylor: "I honestly couldn't think of a better man for her."
