Breach: An FBI agent-in-training (Ryan Phillippe) is tasked to help take down Robert Hanssen (Chris Cooper), the Bureau operative who spent 22 years spying for the Russians. Cooper's portrayal is riveting—but diluted by the film's surprising paucity of tension. (PG-13)

Amazing Grace: This biopic about William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffudd), the idealistic British politician who spearheaded a long drive to outlaw slavery in the late 18th century, is instructive, but it would work better on Masterpiece Theatre. (PG)

Gray Matters: In a slight but genial romantic comedy, a previously straight Manhattan ad exec (Heather Graham) falls in love with the woman (Bridget Moynahan) to whom her brother (Cavanagh)—he's also her best friend—is engaged. (PG-13)
