Anne Murray

Since she was never really among country music's twangier performers, Murray, a 32-year-old Nova Scotian, has not had that far to cross over in her move into pop. After her hit LP of last year, Let's Keep It That Way, this album probably should disqualify her from even the right to wear frilly dresses and say "y'all." That's not to say it is not pleasant. Her contribution to the revival of old R&B hits—You've Got What It Takes (a smash for Marv Johnson in 1960) is bouncy, nostalgic fun—and her touch with a dreamy ballad like Shadows in the Moonlight or/Just Fall in Love Again is sure. Nashville tooketh; now Nashville giveth away.
