Or maybe bittersweet. This album is all old material from around 1970, when RCA for some ungodly reason decided Nelson needed a string section backup. Despite some pleasant tunes—Everybody's Talkin', Help Me Make It Through the Night, Willie's own Wake Me When It's Over and the title track—the overall effect is that of Chateaubriand with ketchup on it.
