Picks and Pans Review: Diamond Cut

Bonnie Tyler

Tyler, if anything, sounds more like Rod Stewart than she did on last year's It's a Heartache. That wouldn't be bad, but the Welsh-born import seems to rely on her rasp (partially the result of a throat operation) to distract people from the fact that there's little style on the other side of it. Her material leans to repetitive, simpleminded lyrics and bland arrangements. My Guns Are Loaded, her current single, is no exception; title aside, it turns out to be as much of a blank as the rest of the LP.
