The six-hour, 80-mile round-trip run between Fort Bragg and Willits, Calif. is really the California Western Railroad, but because of diesel fumes, sensitive Californians refer to it—even in the phone book—as the Skunk Train. The $9.90 fare (half price for children) takes passengers through tall redwood groves and high mountain passes, crossing 32 bridges over the Noyo River—all no doubt in an effort to escape that smell.
