Picks and Pans Review: The Duke

NBC (9 p.m. ET)

Robert Conrad seems even more durable than those batteries he touts. In this limited series he's a boxer turned private eye. The taut script, brisk pacing and Chicago locations complement Conrad's economic acting style. Unexplained, though, is what Patricia Conwell—as his socialite girlfriend—sees in such a lowlife. (And yes, Conrad speaks normally; that wretched French accent he used in Centennial did no permanent damage.)
