Picks and Pans Review: Great Britain

At London's Prowse Fitness Center one could be turned into a real superman. At least David Prowse did that for Christopher Reeve, shaping him up over 10 weeks to play the man of steel. (Prowse played Darth Vader in Star Wars.) His place is frequented by heavyweights in the bodybuilding world, and the less musclebound may prefer the Countess of Dysart's Stobo Castle in Scotland. A staff of 35 looks after the 26 guests and for $1,200 to $3,000 a person per fortnight treats them like the lords and ladies many guests are. Slimming specialties include massage (Swedish, underwater, ultrasonic, vibratory, vacuum suction), facials (Cathiodermie, remedial masks, cosmetic camouflage) and organically grown food.
