The clip, titled "Iran So Far," features SNL regular Fred Armisen doing a creepily accurate impression of Ahmadinejad frolicking around the streets of New York City with Samberg, eating ice cream and buying an "I Love NY" T-shirt.
The song also features cameos from Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine (who sings the chorus, "And Iraaan...I ran so far away") and Jake Gyllenhaal – who's referenced in the lyrics, "So strong to me/You belong to me/Like a very hairy Jake Gyllenhaal to me."
The tune (slightly reminiscent of LL Cool J's rap ballad "I Need Love"), has Samberg quietly rhyming about Ahmadinejad's controversial views, saying, "I saw you on the news/You were hatin' gays/I was eatin' food."
Samberg, who last month won an Emmy with Justin Timberlake for last season's holiday spoof "D--- in a Box," wraps up by singing, "You crazy for this world Mahmoud/You can deny the holocaust all you want/But you can't deny that there's something between us/I know you say there's no gays in Iran/But you're in New York baby."
There was no immediate comment from the president of Iran regarding Samberg's love note.
