Picks and Pans Review: Better Than the Rest

George Thorogood and the Destroyers

Although this is a fine example of Thorogood's driving slide-guitar work—electrically on Chuck Berry's Nadine and acoustically on a crystalline You're Gonna Miss Me—Lonesome George would just as soon that his fans boycott the record. Seems that the LP, pressed from tapes he made five years ago, was released without his consent, and George neither likes the work nor is receiving royalties—a matter about which he's filed suit. The ethical question aside, the album is good Thorogood.
