Picks and Pans Review: You're My Jamaica

Charley Pride

Despite the title song—which was recorded in England and has a touch of reggae—this is basic Pride. He always sounds so all-fired good-natured, even when he's singing Heartbreak Mountain or Let Me Have a Chance to Love You (One More Time), that it's a little hard to take his grieving seriously. What're We Doing Doing This Again is also from the Kiss an Angel Good Mornin' school of bouncy, bright country music. Some might say Charley's in a rut, but it is, after all, a rut paved with gold, records and otherwise.
