The most intriguing character in this frail whodunit is the bridge itself, glimpsed while Susannah York and David Janssen grope toward romance and a priest's murderer. The usually alluring York makes her U.S. TV debut as a sourish nun who leaves the order when detective Janssen buys her a dress. The bridge maintains more dignity.
