Picks and Pans Review: Avalanche Express

Clickety, clickety, BANG! BANG! BANG! Some people are riding on trains in Europe and other people are trying to kill them. Clickety, clickety, BANG! BANG! BANG! Lee Marvin and Linda Evans, who has never lived up to the promise she showed in Beach Blanket Bingo, are U.S. agents and former lovers reluctantly teamed to help a Russian defector, the late Robert Shaw. Joe Namath is on their side, too; his biggest line is, "We've got two more flashlights here, Harry." Clickety, clickety, BANG! BANG! BANG! The pacing, sound quality, photography, special effects and dubbing are rotten; scenes of lifeless anger and romance are broken up at predictable intervals by furious violence. It is often hard to tell who is doing what to whom and where. The thought of asking "Why?" about anything connected with this project is disheartening. Clickety, clickety, BANG! BANG! Yawn. (PG)
