Picks and Pans Review: Knots Landing

The town in the title, having spun off from the network hit Dallas, aspires to be an '80s Peyton Place. Larry Hagman, as slimy oilman J.R. Ewing, moseys over from the Southfork Ranch for this series' second episode. He's right at home with the surroundings: divorce, adultery, family feuds and double-dealing. The resident stars—Don Murray, Michele Lee and Suzanne Pleshette's cousin John, among them—seem too jaded to care, however.
