Forty thousand "typical" Americans were asked to vote, but don't expect any surprises. Only the biggest stars of 1979 were on the ballot, including Kenny Rogers and Donna Summer, each nominated in four categories. TV music mogul Dick Clark produced; Elton John and Cher preside.
