ABC (2-3 p.m. ET)

An idea that Dick Button, former Olympic ace skating champion turned commentator, proposed back in the '60s—having professional athletes compete at sports other than their own—has practically become an industry in 1980. ABC plans 11 Superstars broadcasts this year, combining both men's and women's competitions with a team contest and an international version in March. This first episode is a men's preliminary round, with jocks like Steve Garvey, Ron Guidry and Hank Aaron.
