Rock Hudson stars in this six-hour version (over three consecutive nights) of Ray Bradbury's popular 1950 novel about colonizing Mars. But while Bradbury could sermonize and entertain at the same time, the scriptwriter has turned out a harangue on pollution and the evils of Earthmen that makes Martian minutes seem hours. Mankind's devastation of Mars is trivial compared to the in-sensitivity of this adaptation to Bradbury's original.
