Rex Smith

It's probably unfair to judge Rex Smith as a serious rock artist. Lines like "Bright as the stars that shine above/Let's fill our cup with the wine of love" surely aren't meant for adults. No, his adolescent music and prime-time good looks—displayed topless on the LP's back cover—suggest Smith is vying for the teen idol crown. He does have a grittier voice and more chest hair than Shaun Cassidy. And Smith's single You Take My Breath Away sold a million last year. Here he remines the shallows of commercially inspired passion in songs like To You, Everytime I See You and Without You.
