Picks and Pans Review: Brave New World

NBC (8-11 p.m. ET)

It's a bad sign when a TV movie is 20 months in the making. This turgid effort lives down to those portents, if not up to the Aldous Huxley novel from which it springs. A cast including Keir Dullea, Julie Cobb, Marcia Strassman and Ron O'Neal is stifled by a script that convincingly shows totalitarian society as boring. Only Kristoffer Tabori as John the Savage has decent dialogue, for those not too deep into soma-land to care.
