An aging agronomist, Kirk Douglas, and his nubile assistant, Farrah Fawcett, are happy as hamsters in their subsurface nest in one of Saturn's moons. Then Frankenstein comes to outer space. The malevolent (as usual) Harvey Keitel plays the mad scientist, a computer programmer who unloads his gear and builds a Monster Robot Gone Mad. The robot's lust for Farrah and hatred for Kirk are more laughable than scary, except when he starts smashing dogs and cutting off hands in scenes the camera dwells on excessively. The dialogue is a riot, and, but for a few moments of Alien-like suspense, the story meanders off into the void. That, alas, also happens to be where poor Farrah's movie career seems stranded. Blame it on Stanley Donen, who in better days directed Singin' in the Rain and Two for the Road. (R)
