Bonnie Franklin, with too much sprightliness and not enough backbone, portrays the stubborn New York-born nurse who in 1916 established the first birth control clinic in the U.S. The co-stars are David Dukes and Richard Johnson, and the East Side setting is re-created on the same Burbank set used in 1938 for the Cagney film Angels with Dirty Faces.
