The ballet star says his fascination with the Great White Way began in his native Latvia when he saw the dance films of Cagney and Astaire. Now he and Liza Minnelli re-create numbers from Oklahoma!, Guys and Dolls, Can Can and A Chorus Line. The fabulous sets, the choreography by Ron Field and Baryshnikov's magnetism overcome a soppy story line in a marvelous special.
