Grover Washington Jr.

Not since his 1975 monster Mister Magic has jazz fusion saxophonist Washington hit upon such a winning combination. All the right colleagues are present—percussionist Ralph MacDonald, guitarist Eric Gale, keyboardist Richard Tee, drummer Idris Muhammed—and Washington's own superbly mellow sax doesn't hurt. Neither does the material by the late Roland Kirk, Stevie Wonder and the team of Ralph MacDonald, William Salter and Olive Stevens. I Can't Help It and Easy Loving You are, the stand-out cuts.
