Picks and Pans Review: Love Has No Reason

Debby Boone

With Olivia Newton-John's title as Queen of Sweetness and Light Pop about to be declared vacant on grounds of insufficient activity, Debby is the logical contender. This Nashville-produced album includes two familiar upbeat tunes: Just When I Needed a Love Song and Love Put a Song in My Heart. They set the tone: Even on the bluesier Free to Be Lonely Again and Take It Like a Woman, she sounds like a love-smitten teen. It's an unchallenging set but pleasant enough, say, to dust by.
