Picks and Pans Review: Playing for Time

Casting pro-Palestinian Vanessa Redgrave as a Jewish woman who survives Auschwitz by playing in the death camp orchestra stirred one of the year's nastiest showbiz quarrels. Her performance, unfortunately, is erratic and melodramatic. So, too, is the made-for-TV film.
