Jack Warden is compelling as the late author Cornelius (The Longest Day) Ryan, who battled terminal cancer to finish his 1974 epic, A Bridge Too Far. Anne Jackson bears up as Ryan's wife, Kathryn, who co-wrote the book on which this production is based. But uneven direction makes maudlin what could have been a gripping drama.
