Jimmy Carter's pollster called Robin Lane and the Chart Busters and Pat Benatar's In the Heat of the Night "stunning examples of the future of rock music with women." He hated Devo's Freedom of Choice. He also dug CBS' Dallas and the "incredible" And No Birds Sang, a memoir by Canadian writer Farley Mowat. His pet movies were My Brilliant Career and The Black Stallion, but Oh, God! Book II reminded him that "even God could have a problem if he attempted a return."
