Johnny Cash plays a Kentucky coal miner forced to move to the city in this affecting drama. Unable to find a job because he cannot read or write, Cash triumphs finally with the help of Eli Wallach and Brenda Vaccaro. Fittingly, this is part of CBS' program to encourage reading, which means that millions of schoolkids will get scripts before watching. P.S.: Johnny sings, too.
