Picks and Pans Review: We're Gonna Rock

The Look

This band is headed for the big time. They are purveyors of Detroit's second biggest product: hard rock. There's no sales pitch from Lee lacocca or factory rebate offered, only the promise of a rich new rock line. Most of the Look's tunes are bluesy, blistering rousers. Lead singer Dave Edwards adds vocals that have the raspy, hungry sound of Rod Stewart, pre-Hollywood. If the approach is a bit macho, the originality of the material, particularly on the title cut, atones for that. With no major label contract yet, We're Gonna Rock may not be in your local record store. If not, mail $7.98 to Plastic Records, 24548 Pierce, Southfield, Mich. 48075.
