Charly McClain
McClain, 25, has evolved into one of Nashville's most fluid, least affected women singers, not twanging any more than her Memphis background would dictate and not lapsing into disco-fied country either. On this, her sixth album, she ranges from Steve Davis' contagiously effervescent Sleepin' with the Radio On, to Mike Nesmith and Linda Hargrove's near-standard waltz I've Never Loved Anyone More, to the title ballad. The backup by such ubiquitous studio musicians as Charlie McCoy on harmonica and Hargus "Pig" Robbins on piano is unobtrusively pleasant.
