Picks and Pans Review: Pennsylvania Dutch Country

UPDATED 06/22/1981 at 01:00 AM EDT Originally published 06/22/1981 at 01:00 AM EDT

Bikers will have to pump hard to work off the noodles and strudels on this country tour that starts in Philadelphia. The first stop is Media, Pa. at the Ridley Creek Park Hostel, where bird-watchers may want to roost awhile. Hostels, hex signs and horse-drawn carriages abound from here to Lancaster. Sights along the way include the nation's oldest commercial pretzel bakery in Lititz; the Cloisters, an 18th-century monastic settlement, in Ephrata, and Lancaster's farmers' markets. For chocolate lovers, Hershey, Pa. is just a nougat's throw away.
