LaToya Jackson

Where are all those brothers and sisters when we need them? Four of LaToya's eight supermusical siblings—Marlon, Jackie, Randy and Tito—actually do appear singing backup on their sister's second LP. But that's only one song. The rest of the time LaToya, 24, is just left out there alone, to disco, disco slowly in the wind. While she has sung with the Five, on the vocal Jackson scale she doesn't rate as close to Michael as she does to Reggie, Jesse or Henry. Her voice is frail, and this collection of tuneless thump-thump-thump songs is as out of style as shouting "Get down!" The best thing about the album is that sometimes the band plays so loud you can't hear LaToya.
