Picks and Pans Review: Hell Night
As part of a joint sorority-fraternity hazing, two college coeds and two male friends spend a night in a candlelit, supposedly haunted manor near campus. Their nasty pals rig up a few early scares, but of course these sharp collegians refuse to admit there are real ghosts about and of course there are. The menace turns out to be an agile, hulking half-man, half-linebacker type, whose specialty is twisting heads around 180 degrees. Linda Blair knows where her head is at, but she's so bored (hey, after doing The Exorcist at 14 we understand), she sighs, "What are we doing here anyway?" It's a line sure to elicit audience sympathy. You won't have any trouble sleeping after Hell Night, or through it, for that matter. (R)
