Picks and Pans Review: World Photography

Not all photographers can discuss their art cogently, yet Brassaï, Stephen Dalton, Elliott Erwitt and the 22 others in this roundup by a British photojournalist have a lot to say. While the essays are uneven, some, such as Joel Meyerowitz's and Ralph Gibson's, are entertaining. The contributors' eight-page portfolios of their work, ranging from ghetto street scenes to Mount Fuji vistas, are a visual smorgasbord. (Ziff-Davis, $49.95)
