Picks and Pans Review: The American Movie Awards

For the second year (but not in a row—the 1981 awards were canceled because of a network dispute with executive producer David Frost), the National Association of Theatre Owners steals a march on the Oscars with its own awards show. The nominees duplicate many of the Academy's, but the winners here were chosen by moviegoers in balloting at theaters last month.
