Picks and Pans Review: I Lie

UPDATED 04/05/1982 at 01:00 AM EST Originally published 04/05/1982 at 01:00 AM EST

Loretta Lynn

The song titles tell it: I Lie, There Stands the Glass, I Wanted You to Leave (Until You Left Me), Step Right Up and Break My Heart, Going's Been Coming, Where Love Goes When It's Gone, A Motel Match. Lynn does lapse briefly into optimism on Max D. Barnes' jaunty If I Ain't Got It (You Don't Need It), but this is the quintessence of the country music done-wrong genre. Nobody suffers musically with as much style or appeal as Loretta.
